Groundwork Collaborative announced today that Jasmin Johansen-Hickman has been named the organization’s new Chief of Staff. Johansen-Hickman brings extensive expertise in nonprofit management and operations to the Washington DC-based progressive think tank.
“I am thrilled to join an organization like the Groundwork Collaborative that is leading the charge on what a true inclusive economy looks like,” said Johansen-Hickman. “For most of my career, I have worked for organizations that directly serve families and communities that Groundwork fights to economically advance every day. To join an organization that is educating, innovating, and highlighting this profound type of work is of a deeply professional and personal resonance to me.”
Most recently, Johansen-Hickman worked as a Program Evaluator for Smart Start & the North Carolina Partnership for Children where she managed all program evaluation, monitoring, and resource development for its early education service programs. She also worked as a Family Service Center Director for Action for Boston Community Development, Inc where oversaw all programmatic and operational management. She holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a B.A. in Economics from Spelman College.
“I’m delighted to welcome Jasmin to the Groundwork team as our first chief of staff,” said Lindsay Owens, executive director of Groundwork Collaborative. “Her people-centered approach to leadership and deep experience in nonprofit management is exactly what our organization needs in this critical moment in Washington. I am confident that her leadership will strengthen and expand the impact of our work to advance a progressive economic worldview.”
Launched in 2018, Groundwork is driven by one core guiding principle: we are the economy. In concert with economic policy experts, movement leaders, and activists, Groundwork aims to:
- Develop and advance a progressive economic worldview;
- Collaborate and foster new ideas and develop new pathways to share information; and
- Break down issue silos and support critical economic issue campaigns.
Groundwork also convenes ProsperUS, a coalition of more than 80 progressive groups working “to ensure government at all levels hears the demands of the people, meets the historic nature of the crises we face with bold ideas, and fearlessly commits the public resources needed to implement them.
