Taylor Barnes Lord is the Chief of Staff at Groundwork Collaborative.

Taylor Barnes Lord is a strategist, organizer, and coalition builder. As Chief of Staff at Groundwork Collaborative, she ensures that the organization’s mission to build a more inclusive economy is backed by strong internal operations, strategic alignment, and a culture of collaboration.

Taylor’s career has been rooted in building bridges between organizations, government, and grassroots movements.

Before joining Groundwork, Taylor served as the Director of the Office of Public Engagement at the U.S. Department of Labor, where she led a team managing relationships with labor unions, advocacy organizations, and businesses to advance worker power. She played a key role in shaping the agency’s outreach strategy, helping drive engagement on major policy rollouts, and coordinating hundreds of events with the Secretary of Labor. She also played a major role in political organizing at the Democratic National Committee, shaping engagement strategies in key states and working closely with the 2020 Biden-Harris campaign. Additionally, Taylor helped launch and scale the United State of Women, a national movement for gender equity, in partnership with the Obama White House. Through events, digital organizing, and coalition-building, she worked to connect thousands of advocates and organizations in the fight for women’s economic security, workplace protections, and equal representation.

She holds a B.A. in Political Communication from The George Washington University and is a proud former community organizer and daughter of a union member. She spends her spare time chasing after her two young children—an experience that has deepened her appreciation for care workers and the importance of paid leave.
