Groundwork’s Bilal Baydoun Reacts to April Jobs Report: “Workers who drive our economy deserve a bigger piece of the pie”

Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the April jobs report which shows that our economy added 175,000 jobs last month and unemployment ticked up to 3.9%. Groundwork Collaborative’s Director of Policy and Research Bilal Baydoun reacted with the following statement:

“The enduring strength of our labor market is a testament to the power of public investment. The longest streak of unemployment below 4% since the 1960s – 27 straight months – doesn’t happen by accident.

“But with corporate profits at record highs, it’s clear that the workers who drive our economy deserve a bigger piece of the pie.”
