Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the April jobs report which shows that our economy added 175,000 jobs last month and unemployment ticked up to 3.9%. Groundwork Collaborative’s Director of Policy and Research Bilal Baydoun reacted with the following statement:
“The enduring strength of our labor market is a testament to the power of public investment. The longest streak of unemployment below 4% since the 1960s – 27 straight months – doesn’t happen by accident.
“But with corporate profits at record highs, it’s clear that the workers who drive our economy deserve a bigger piece of the pie.”
