Today, President Biden announced his support for a windfall profits tax on energy companies after another record-shattering quarter for fossil fuel corporations. Lindsay Owens, executive director of Groundwork Collaborative, commended the White House for taking a firm stand against profiteering at the pump:
“It’s unacceptable that oil companies are raking in billions of dollars in profits this quarter while Americans are struggling with painfully high gas prices. President Biden is right: taxing excess profits will bring down prices for families and hold these giant oil companies accountable.”
