Owning Her Leadership: Real Talk with AANHPI Women

May 21, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

AANHPI women have been leading communities for generations, from Yuri Kochiyama who advocated for the anti-war movement, to Dr. Hilda Heine, the first elected female president of the Marshall Islands, to Pramila Jayapal, the first Indian American Congresswoman, to Haunani-Kay Trask, leader of the Hawaiian sovereignty movement, and many more. AANHPI women lead in their own way and face unique challenges, juggling cultural expectations that often conflict with Western notions of leadership.

The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Form and the National Women’s Law Center will co-host an event and happy hour with national AANHPI women leaders to discuss the issues unique to AANHPI women’s leadership and explore what leadership means and looks like, to ourselves, to our communities, and to the broader society.
