Molly Claflin is a congressional investigations lawyer specializing in high-profile and high-stakes matters. She has worked on both sides of investigations — conducting them as Deputy Staff Director and Chief Counsel for Investigations for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, where she led the team investigating waste, fraud and abuse in the United States’ fiscal response to the coronavirus pandemic; as Investigations Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, where she managed the investigations into Secretary Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Trump campaign’s Russian connections; and as Chief Oversight Counsel at American Oversight, a non-profit that investigates corruption, where she advised Congress on two impeachments. She has also defended against investigations from the perspective of representing clients at a major international law firm, and most recently while serving as Special Counsel at the U.S. Department of State where she managed investigations response strategy for the Biden Administration.

She currently teaches government investigations at the University of Texas School of Law.

A Truman Scholar, Molly holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
